We just got Blurt over the Thanksgiving holidays, and it was a pretty decent game. Here’s how it works. You roll a die, and based on the roll one person reads out a clue (the clue is basically the definition of an unknown word). People then blurt out answers, with the first person being correct winning, and there’s no penalty if you’re wrong. The first person or team to circle the board wins.
The problem we had with the game was that it was a little too chaotic – you end up with a lot of yelling (and then arguing about who got it first). The second problem is that we have a couple of bookworms in our family, and they seemed to know every answer. The game can quickly get lopsided.
Regardless, Blurt is a fun game. It seems as though it’d be especially fun for younger kids (there are special rules for those 7 and up. It might be worth a shot in your group.
